- Silica is found in compounds called glycosaminoglycans, components of structural tissues, like arteries, tendons, skin, bones and cartilage. Given these properties, silica supplements have become popular for healthy skin and mobility.
Although there’s no NRV for silica, most nutritionists agree a daily intake is important. Our bamboo derived silica supplements provide 200mg of silica per capsule.
Silica tablets and capsules typically use silica extracted from horsetail. However, we prefer to use bamboo gum, a source of natural silica. Bamboo gum contains over 90% organic silica, which is more than ten times the level found in the widely used horsetail plant, where the level is as low as 5-7%.
