Horny Goat Weed: Why We Don't Sell It

Why we don't sell horny goat weed

What is horny goat weed (HGW)?

Horny goat weed (epimedium) is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. The rather eccentric name is attributed to links between goats grazing on the plant subsequently becoming unusually amorous. It’s worth noting at this point, the observations were made of goats, not humans!

What is horny goat weed commonly used for?

As the name may imply, horny goat weed is alleged to be a sexual stimulate for both sexes. It’s is also purported to support women’s health, although this was not substantiated in human studies.

Why don’t we sell horny goat weed?

There is limited human study data, and no meaningful evidence to support the claims mentioned above. We are also aware of many possible side effects of taking horny goat weed; a racing heart, sweating and nausea to name a few. This herb may also interact with certain medications, so it’s advisable to consult your health practitioner if you’re considering supplementing with HGW.

What are the alternatives?

Despite the scores of highly illegal claims made for the purported aphrodisiac ‘horny goat weed’, there’s little to no evidence to suggest this so-called libido booster actually works – and certainly not at the negligible doses being sold by competitors.
