Biotin is an interesting member of the B vitamin family; while the body can’t produce it – which is, in part, the definition of what it is to be a vitamin – the bacteria in our digestive system can make it, and we can absorb it from this source. Illness and tummy upsets, however, can disrupt its normal production.
In the body, biotin is primarily used to assist the normal growth and development of hair, skin and bone marrow. But like all the B vitamins, biotin also plays a role in energy production and psychological function.
Our high-strength biotin capsules provide a full 500µg of biotin, a level that would be difficult to obtain from most high-street multis. Given the strength of our biotin capsules, we only recommend taking them for a few months, after which one of our multis or vitamin B complexes should provide adequate amounts.
