Vitamin B
The B vitamins play an important role in almost every biochemical process that occurs in the body and are best known for their contribution to the processes that release energy from food. But official data shows that many people’s diets provide borderline, or deficient, levels of B vitamins, largely due to our love of highly processed foods.
Taking a B vitamin supplement is one way to guarantee an optimum intake of B vitamins, which is why women are recommended to take a folic acid supplement during pregnancy. We tend to advise that a B complex or a multi vitamin formula is the best way to supplement with B vitamins, rather than taking individual B supplements, as diets deficient in one B vitamin will tend to be deficient in others. However, we do provide all the separate B vitamins on their own for those with special requirements.
We offer three strengths of B complexes all of which are much stronger than the typical supermarket B complex. That’s because we firmly believe that the official Nutrient Reference Intake (NRV) represents the minimum intake, not the optimum intake. In fact nearly all of our multivitamin and mineral formulas provide higher levels of these essential nutrients than the NRV level, and certainly more than most ‘high street’ B complex products.
