Amino Acids
Often dubbed the building blocks of protein, all twenty-one amino acids have the vital responsibility of repairing and maintaining the body’s tissues. While eleven amino acids are produced in the body itself, the remaining nine are termed ‘essential amino acids’ as they derive from our diet.
We obtain amino acids by digesting proteins in food, which are then absorbed in our gut. Thereafter, they continue their all-important journey to build the specific proteins our body requires.
At Nature’s Best®, we stock a wide range of amino-acids in their free-form – meaning no digestion is required before the body can absorb them. In addition to our most popular amino acids below, we’re also able to sell the following supplements: L-Ornithine, L-Cysteine, L-Histidine, L-Methionine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Tyrosine. If you’re interested in any of these products, please contact our Nutrition Advice team who will be very happy to assist you.
Now, you might be wondering what the ‘L’ denotes before the supplement name? Quite simply, this letter represents the isomer of the amino acid. Amino acids can be L or D isomers – an isomer being the name given to compounds with the same molecular formula, but different structures. The ‘L’ form is required by the body and found in most foods.
Alongside this, we also offer a number of quality, whey protein products. The amino acid profile is listed on the packaging, so you can always have a comprehensive understanding of precisely what you’re stocking up on.
